Red River Gorge is known worldwide as one of the best climbing locations in the United States. Climbers come from far and wide to experience all of the amazing routes offered in the gorge and surrounding areas. The sandstone makes for the perfect experience for beginners learning from professional guides to experienced climbing experts. Climbing Routes in the Red River Gorge Area

The Red River Gorge Climbers’ Coalition has 3 main climbing areas. Pendegrass-Murray Recreational Preserve (PMRP), Coal Bank Hollow (in PMRP) and Miller-Fork Recreational Preserve (MFRP). Downloadable PDF routes are below. Please be patient with details concerning approach trails to new crags, RRGCC respects developers’ privacy while they are working on their routes, and also prefers to build trails and staging areas before heavy traffic begins. Most routes are for experienced climbers. If you are a novice climber, we suggest climbing with a guide.
