Alan Cornette, the author – Al Cornett, the artist

Alan Cornette, born in 1931, in Boyd County, Kentucky, has had an interesting life which included several career moves in this order: Worked as a Carpenter, truck driver (U.S. Army), Bachelor of Science degree, EKU, class of 1959, teaching – Industrial Arts in Jessamine County, a sixteen year stint at IBM as a technical illustrator and Audio Visual Representative, Teaching, Art at Lees Jr. college (Jackson), sold reproductions of his landscape paintings for 15 years, and a Naturalist at Natural Bridge State Park.

Through most of this life, Alan was writing five books of prose, poetry and a little history, which led to his publishing career as an author: Sandstone Chronicles (2005), Seven Mountains and the Red Star (2008), The High Rock Petroglyph (2015), The Red Mailbox (2002/2019), and Gladie Cabin (2022), My Little Book of Prose/Poetry – not yet finished.

Cornette moved to Powell County, Kentucky, in 1973 and began a career as an artist and craftsman – painting landscapes, making willow furniture, and other crafts – still painting.

Alan’s last book, Gladie Cabin, was published primarily to give credit to the many people who worked on the cabin restoration in 1988. It was a community effort with tourist volunteers helping with some of the activities. Cornette emphasizes that the Gladie Historic site in the Red River Gorge should remain open to public visitation and use.

Favorite interests: Ancient history – Sumerian/Egyptian subjects, pre-Columbian Americas, petroglyphs (rock art) of the RRG area and its connection to Central America, the Electric Universe Model (EU Model) of the universe, open-minded to the presence of UAPs (Unidentified Arial Phenomenon) flying around in the skies of earth.
